i was thinking, with the way a firmware update works, why not modify it to downgrade/overwrite the current firmware? Or just extract the code stating it's a legit sony program, so it can be used in the creation of future homebrew. I lack the tech skills to do this myself, otherwise i would try it; but it's just an idea.

The MD5 and SHA1 break when you modify the update.
