General games Force Unleashed racks up 1.5 million sales

    via Games Industry

LucasArts has revealed that the latest Star Wars title - The Force Unleashed - has sold 1.5 million copies worldwide in its first five days on sale across all platforms.

The title was released on September 16 in North America, September 17 in Australia and South-East Asia, and September 19 in Europe, and the strong demand so far has prompted the publisher to order more copies to be manufactured.

4.3 million units were initially shipped to the various territories, but the Krome Studios-developed game looks set to become the most popular Star Wars title to date.

"The record-setting sales of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed shows the undiminished power of Star Wars and its popularity across all media types, including videogames," said Darrell Rodriguez, president of LucasArts. "We're blown away by the response to the game."

That's great news! I just hope that they don't let too many game studios write the scripts to the stories that later get turned into books, but rather do it the other way around. I.E. If you read the Republic Commando series, The Thrawn Trilogy, or Shatter Point, you'll be dying for a video game adaptation. Granted the Repub Commando series did come after the game, but thankfully had nothing to do with that boring, uninspired game.

As far as Lethal Alliance and Jedi Academy are concerned...

...the stories just sucked! Not only were there contradictions in the Star Wars canon, the dialog was just stale.

    Here's to a better future!

The Thrawn Trilogy is my all time favorite book series. Sure, I would love to see a game adaption, but I would rather have the movies first. Hopefully, if they are ever made, they will be directed by a competent person.

If the guy who directed Empire Strikes Back is still alive, I'd elect him.
