If you have been paying attention people like McZonk have been working on a dual flash chip settup. which will allow developers to safely test out a nand writer. Thus developing a way to have a fulltime custom firmware!
But as of immidiate development. there are people working on custom firmwares which can be launched via MPH's Firmware launcher. And as of current it can play AVC videos and still run home brew! Now... They are still working on getting 2.0 disks to work but this may be possible in the near future.

you can't, but you can run homebrew on your 2.00 PSP with the fanjita eboot loader.

I used a version changer it was by wab i think it ran on V1.5 and allowed you to trick your psp into beliving it was v2.5 i think they may have updated it to higher!!!
