    psp PSP-3000 unboxing and hands-on

We know they're hitting the streets, and we've already seen some unboxing pics and a nasty gutting, but we felt we needed to give Sony's new PSP-3000 the proper Engadget treatment. As you can tell by the photos, there's not much new here, though as you should know, the guts are where it's all going down (new screen, built-in microphone). Still it never hurts to take a close look at a shiny new toy... so enjoy yourselves in the gallery.

I'm glad sony decided to go back to metal bars for the umd drive.
The crappy cloth umd drive felt extremely cheap and far too under-tech.
I would definitely rather the PSP 1000's over-tech door, but the new PSP 3000 door seams to be a nice median.

The built in microphone is a nice feature, I hope games start making good use of this.

Despite the even cheaper plastic used to this model, The overall look is sexy.
The new ring is really great looking and the curvier edges seam even more sleek than ever before.

Althogh sony is currently having problems with scan lines on the new screen, when they get it fixed this will definitely be an upgrade that I look into.

If DAX manages to get some CFW running on this and with all the great games comming out later this year and next year, I can see this being much more popular that any of the PSP's before it.

I think plastic looks a bit less cheap on this model and the best part is that the silver one doesn't have that annoying glossy finish

I like the gloss black, this one looks 7 shades of ugly to me.

    Each to their own
