I think the device you're asking about is the Gameshark CDX which also allows inputting of cheat codes. There's a brief review here:

It sounds to me like you'll probably want a Japanese or US DC that's been chipped to work with imports. Lik-Sang sell this sort of thing (http://www.yesasia.com/?/info.php?cat...roducts_id=89&) but you'll have to factor in the postage and customs VAT on the item to find out how much it'll end up being. Personally speaking, I use a PAL DC (blue swirl) with the DC-X boot disc and just have to live with the booting up when I want to change games. It's not that much of a hassle and I've had no probs so far.
