IRC Chat DirectX 11 Won't Repeat The Windows-Exclusive Sins Of It's Father

When Windows Vista shipped, it shipped alongside DirectX 10. DirectX 10 would only run with Vista. It wouldn't run with the faster, more stable, more popular Windows XP. This made those running games on XP unhappy. Well, fast forward a few years, and the next release of a Windows OS - Windows 7 - won't be repeating the same mistake. Microsoft's Product Marketing Manager Windows, Ben Basaric, has gone on record saying that while Windows 7 will be shipping with DX11 support (which will add features like allowing a graphics processor to process more than just graphics), it will also run on Windows Vista. So no need to go upgrading. Well...unless you're one of millions still using XP...

Seems fair to me. Support for the current (Windows 7) and previous (Vista) OS. Isn't Windows rule that you're allowed to skip every other OS?

Its only fair for Micro$oft. They'll sell their Windows7 while the same time they'll boost their failed windows Σvista.
Why do they force us to hack our PC to get the latest DirectX?...

They're not forcing you to do anything. You want DX11, and they're selling it. Also, I don't think anything short of an extreme price cut would help boost Vista sales.

Vista is so much better than XP anyway. Yeah, you have noobs still going on about how crap vista is... its because they have heard too many bad things about it... and not given it the test run.
Of course Vista had its problems - but if you remember XP did too, and Windows 7 will.
