Default Aliens versus Quake (56k? Watch yourself!)

I've been needing something to work on outside emulation related projects. Here goes...

Not too long ago, I was thinking of a game idea to add to my portfolio (because it's a little too empty now) so I went under some sites offering free models, textures, sound effects and such. I had seen a model of an alien (remember the movie Aliens?) and thought to myself, "Hey that's cool... *click*". Then I saw a model of that man from Quake I, so once again I said to myself, "Hey, that's cool... *click*". After downloading the models, I was thinking of my favourite PC game, Aliens versus Predator, then I thought, "Hey, how about Aliens versus Quake?" So how cool would it be to have the choice of being a marine or an alien (once again), but when each of them can have "Quad Dammage"?

I've been working on this project in my spare time and so far it's been a great experience building a game similar to Quake but with Aliens in it. Now, I just wanted to ask you all, what are your opinions on such an idea? Do you think it might be worth playing? I'm asking because I've gotten mixed comments on this. Some laughed and [kinda] made fun of me, others said it was a cool idea and were eager to here more about it. I made a little bit of artwork for the game using GIMP and some images I found on google, some said it looked like ass, others thought it was kick ass. Here's some screens:

I admit I'm not the greatest artist in the world, but I tried! I also have lots of 3d models and other media for the game. I didn't create these, but here are some screens of the 3d models I'm using:

I have lot's more, but these were just some of my favourites. The textures that come with these models tend to vary in size and bit depth and in general most of them are hi-res formats. I might have to create some reduced size/bit depth versions of certain textures so that I can port it to a console (I prefer Xbox1). So far I haven't made any ingame screenshots yet (because I'm still working on the engine), but hopefully soon I can have a demo to share with you all Below is a list of things I've done and have not done yet:

    Done:
    - Story line
    - Characters
    - Vehicles
    - Pickups (except medkit!)
    - Xbox360 gamepad support

    Working on:
    - Engine completion
    - Level design
    - Sound effects

The main purpose of the project is to impress a potential employer (wish me luck with that!) but at the same time be a fun, 3D first/third person shooter game. Let me know what you think. Feel free to post suggestions and such. Thanks for reading.

Atm, I don't own a pandora. Sounds like a good idea though nonetheless.
