Mc Zonk, think of it this way, wile you "may" have mod's soon... we have version 2.00 support, right NOW! :P
And dont think just because it has a following in the mod area that it still does, I've been with the quake community for a long time, and most games that were mods are now standalone games, so porting would have to be done for most of the worth wile mods :P
I think Quake 2 will never have 2.0 support. You have less memory and after restarting some maps you will have segmented all your memory. 2.0 support is not a neccasary feature for me. I think homebrew will always have to face the problem of fight against sony's new firmwares.
I'm really impressed by the work of fanjita and all the other firmware hackers. But as long an exploit limits the resources it also limits the homebrew power. No Quake 2 on 2.0 is one example. My major problem in Quake is reduce memory wasting and id software seems to waste memory as if it is unlimited and they segmentate the memory badly.
I don't want to made your Iris port bad. I really like it and I'm sure it will be a popular multiplayer game soon.
But be realistic. We all have normal lifes and we are just a few enthusiasts how spend to much of our spare time to code or model or draw or admin psp stuff. If anybody really plans a big 3d psp game and we got power of a lot of modellers, musicians, animators and coders I would be proud to support work on the graphics engine.
I want to thank everybody who supports the psp community activly. I know the base of the scene is a mess. But thanks to everybody who works on psp hacks or games, who runs psp boards and who support the community in any other way.
