It will be great for developers but I don't think it will get much public support. I also don't like some of the decisions they included in it.
For example, a touch screen that's out of reach, a ridiculously high amount of pixels for such a small space, the placing of the analog sticks and buttons, and a few other things.
By cutting those out they could cut the price down a lot, which would create more public support and maybe even commercial games.

There is going to be some news on the PSP2 and possibly the next generation of Gameboy/DS, but I don't think we'll see a release.
There is definitely not going to be a new Xbox or playstation, but there's been talk of a new 'Wii HD' in development that could see light in 2010.

not so fast

sometimes the female mantis eats the male mantis's head as they mate for reasons i don't know about (maybe to ensure the male mantis does not try to run away after mating is over?) and the male mantis can still survive/ mate for some time with no head, but it is perfectly capable of mating with a head as well.
