Flashing questions

I recently got a DS and i am waiting for an R4 to get here. So my question is when u use cards like the R4 does it install a whole new OS on the DS or does it run off the card, I am a little confusioned on this. I don't want to do anything to void my warrantee.
And if it does change the DS OS can it be set back to the orginal

Hi,

The R4 (and other flash cards) utilise a MicroSD slot. You will need to copy the card OS (sometimes supplied with the card or else easily available on the net) to the MicroSD. Once you've done this just pop the MicroSD into the R4, the R4 into the DS and your DS will boot from the R4, bypassing your DS OS. If you want to use the original DS OS just take out the R4 before powering up.

It's very similar to using a Linux Live CD on your PC (assuming you've used one). With the LLCD you drop the CD into your drive, boot from that and your PCs actual OS will sit there idle until the next time you boot into it.
