Trouble setting up PSP 290

Hi Guys,

Hello to everyone (Since this is my first post)

Im facing problems setting up the PSP-290 which just got delivered to me 1 day ago from play-asia.com

Currently I have,

* PSP 2004, with 5.00 m33-4 installed
* Map this! ver 0.5.20
* Map of Mumbai (India), set uped. Map is working fine (I reside in Mumbai)
* PSP-290

My problem is Im not able to work around with GPS

When I ON GPS on MapThis it always shows

-- BEARING
-- ALTITUDE
with completely NO Signal

>> GPS INFO shows

SAT-IN-VIEW: 00

I've Installed Map This is PSP>GAME folder.

>> Since some where around I saw, the Map This should be installed in some different folder like 3.XX for all 3.XX custom firmwares

But in my case firstly in PSP folder there is 4.00 folder (though I have 5.00 m33 ) And even when I tried copying files to that folder instead of normal Game folder, it not being detected in Game XMB

>> Also somewhere around I'd seen I need to copy usbgps.prx as well as usbacc.prx files to the Mapthis folder.

I tried keeping those files obtained from the thread http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=78906 by michael_dack_2005 ( every firmware from 2.71 to 3.72) but no luck

I dont know where Im going wrong?

You should wait to receive GPS Sat signals!What were you expecting...

How many minutes? I have to wait for it

I tried waiting for about 12 - 15 minutes

OK ...

I got around fixing that 4XX folder issue

I was not getting 5XX folder because I'd not formated PSP after moving from 4.01 to 5.00

Now when I formated I got PSP>Game5XX folder.

Now when I install MapThis in the Game5XX folder it works..


But when I stated the application, it didnt show any GPS signal.


I thought of waiting for some time and I went away for 5 mins.

After I came .. I saw my screen was FROOZE


ANY comments

Should I move to 4.01 again ?

OK.. This post has been so far, one way only...


I want to state that.... I got the PSP 290 GPS working...

I was not able to recieve the range being in my room.

I went to my terrace and ..Kaboom!!!

4 Satellites to power me up.

and it was working properly now
