Okay, so im in a debate at penny arcade forums with some troll that says developers make something like fifty dollars an hour,

not high end devs like mayamoto or such,
just your average right out of digipen fresh devs,
I know the guy has to be full of $#@! and I called him on it.

hell devs are probably on salary,, but if it was broken into per hour pay, I'd be shocked if it was over 15 to 20 dollars per..

If anyone may have an answer, or even a rough guess, it would be very helpful.*quzar, Gpf,, brother Bluecrab, i'm looking your direction,, but just in case they aren't around,, anyones guess is probably better then mine.

50bucs an hour is ridiculous. Last thing I heard was that devs were underpaid. I always thought the publishers where the ones that raked in all the cash then gave the scraps to the devs. Isn't that the reason devs love DLC since that's the only way they actually make money lol

my guess is 15-25max depending on how big the team is and the budget of the project.

They probably get salaries, not wages.

Mowing lawns or pulling weeds pays by the hour. Game development doesn't.

yeah, but i'm still in need of some sort of rough estimation,, to prove my point to the guy.

whatever the salary would be, I'm can just take that and divide it by the average work hours in a given week to get an idea,, so if anyone even has a rough guess at what that may be, that should work just fine.

40 hrs a week for 44 weeks a year is 1760 hrs
for 35-40k thats about 20-22 per hr

of course thats pounds, and wages are higher in the uk.

but really its hard to compare salary to wages
