Age of nations IV Pre release is out!
Age of Nations is a Lua Coded RTS Game, based on Microsoft’s Age of Empires Game.

Edit: It's comming along great. Still needs a lot of work but certainly has potential.
I also noticed that you're using luaplayer. I would strongly suggest switching it over to PGE.
I can almost guarantee all of your speed problems will be gone and you'll still have tons of power left over.

Couldn't stop the peasant chopping at 50, but that won't stop me having a try
with the scenarios.

Some Updates i've made since this Pre-release:
Interface:
I've modded a lot the game. Some pics have been added for resources.Also, the player now can disable/enable the upper board (which prints informations about his own amounts of resources) or enable/disable the Minimap.These features speeds up a bit the game, especially when many items appears, or even when the minimap or the board are hiding something on the map.

Engine
I’ve almost ended the main engine code.At 70%, to give an idea.This was the most important steps, as some advised me.
Now using this engine as a custom function, i’ll be able tocreate tons of scenarios, campaigns,etc.
Actually, the engine is able to perform many features.
* Create Units (Peasants, Soldiers,Bowmen,Horsemen, Priests units)
* Show Burning Animation when a build is attacked and its health is being reduced.
* Repair Task is avalaible.
* It is also possible to collect ressources.Stone & Gold ressources requires Some updates before being collected.
What remains to do is building tasks,hunting tasks & some code for healing unit.I’ve also planned to add unit conversion & instant death (for priest), as soon as possible.

I’ve added some new features to the engine.
* Now Priests can heal units.
* Peasants can perform building tasks now as well
I’ve also modified a lot the background, adding some rocks and sand.This is just for testing.Maybe i’ll remove them after if it reduces the game speed.
