ds turns off when inserting games cartridge

my ds would not charge but it was the fuse inside and had it sorted but now that it works,when i put in the r4 cartridge in it turns my ds off,i have tried the r4 with another ds and it works
anyone help

wait, is your DS turned on when you insert the card? you're meant to insert it while its off and then turn it on.
