Default ok, Now I'm a little confused

I just got my first psp yesterday after geting a$75 giftcard in the snell mail. I've read here and there about what firmware upgrade/downgrade to run homebrew. I don't want to brick my psp right out of the box.(I'm not 100% convinced I want to keep it yet till I get something cool to work). So my question is. I have firmware 1.52 I want to run as much homebrew a possible. what firmware do i need to change my psp to?

You need to use an update to get to 2.00, then you will need to use MPH's downgrader to get to 1.5 and you're set.

Remember that the downgrader only tricks your PSP into thinking its 1.0 allowing the 1.5 update to work. Check the downgrade guide in this section for all the proper files.

downgrading the firmware worked. I be happy now! I did have a few burps but, that cleared when i rebooted the psp. I guess i'll have to keep my new found love, now that i know its stable!

the guide was big help along with you comments Thank you!

now i'm gonna see if i can get my zen micro to work as a 4gig hd.
