Upgrade from 1.5 and 3.4 to latest fireware

Been a while since I've used me psp (fat one), tried a few new games from the memory card but they won't work so I think I'm due an upgrade.

What version should I go for and how should I upgrade to it. I've read a couple of guides but as I already have 1.5 would I need to do this step?

If you're on 1.5 it should be pretty simple to get up to speed pretty quickly.First off you can install 3.52 m33,just download it from dark-alex.org or anywhere really. From there you can then upgrade to 5.00 m33 aswell,which can be downloaded from the same place.Both cfws come with easy to follow readmes if i remember correctly,but if you've any problems there are loads of tutorials floating around anyway
