Lets round these numbers to make the math easier:
Wii = 60 /5 = 12
PS3 = 65 /5 = 13
360 = 80 /5 = 16
this is an AVERAGE!
This is like using the density of 3 objects to determine which weighs the most. This could work perfectly fine... IF the 3 objects are the same size, but a quick glance at the sales figures will show that they are not.
again, we'll round the ratios to make the math simple. In the US, Wii has 23M, PS3 has 9M, and 360 has 17M. Multiply this be the average use and we get:
Wii = 12x23 = 276
PS3 = 13x9 = 117
360 = 16x17 = 272
ooh, the numbers came out closer than I thought they would, so I'll go back and test this with the exact figures.
Wii = 58x22.7 = 1316.6
PS3 = 64x8.3 = 531.2
360 = 78x17 = 1326
So sadly, my original belief that the Wii actually gets greater playtime than the 360 is wrong, but it still holds about even with it. There is less than 1% difference between the Wii and the 360, when you look at OVERALL playtime, and not just "average" playtime.
the same thing can be done for the usage:
Wii = 5x22.7 = 114
PS3 = 6.8x8.3 = 57
360 = 7.1x17 = 121
