Default Slot1 Broken? What's required to fix?

Hi, my DS has been working pretty well for a year and a half now, but recently, it's been unable to detect any cards (r4, regular games). At first, it was able to detect cards if I pushed down and held the card in a certain position (like holding down the card 2 mm before the click happens). But now it won't detect any card at all.

I'm guessing I should buy a replacement for the Slot 1 card socket, but I have no experience with this. I was wondering how this works. Do I open the ds case (gotta get a triwing screwdriver somewhere..), and, what's after that? Is the socket soldered on? Simply clicked into place? Screwed in place?

Any information is appreciated, so hopefully I can buy the necessary items to fix my ds.

    Edit:
After watching some videos, I got the general gist of how to repair my DS. I'm looking for good solder tips though, as I haven't soldered before.
