Default No standby in PSX games

Hello, I am posting for a friend (he cannot post here for some reason, forum keeps spitting an error message)

He has a fat PSP with firmware 5.00m33-6 (no Pandora). The Problem is that the Standby of the PSP doesn't work when he plays any PSX game, apart from Legend of Dragoon (there the standby works) After turning off (going to standby), the power light flashes for a second. After turning on the screen just freezes and some seconds later the PSP turns itself off. After starting the PSP again he is in the main menu.

I already gave him my settings in the recovery menu and the VSH menu (I have PSP fat 5.00m33-3) but it still only works in one particular game (Legend of Dragoon). The other games keep freezing after returning from sleep mode (=standby).

I want to add, that his problem is not related to the eboot he uses.
