It Depends whats at the ware house ... see Sony doesn't Fix YOUR PSP, they most likely give you a refurbished one, so its like if they give you one, its a high chance of latest firmware, but on the brightside, if you dont upgrade, after a while, a hack will reach the latest firmware in a while, I stuck with 2.80 ? i think and then after a while, the TIFF\HEN Exploit was found

if you want to save the trouble, YOU Repair The screen look online for a DIY tutorial, you can purchase screens off ebay...
