Post Quick, inexpensive and easy way to improve PSP-290 lock on time

I'm posting this info for those who are using the Sony PSP-290 receiver. I have read some posts about the PSP-290 having interference with static generated by the PSP itself, well these posts are correct and in my opinion Sony should have performed more extensive testing with this design. I'm also aware of the cables that are available and if you have some electronics skills you can make one yourself. I chose a simpler route by applying anti-static tape to the 290. Basically I used a exacto knife and cut small pieces of the tape to cover all the metal area of the receiver. I would suggest using 2 mil or above clear tape. Be careful not to cover the usb connector or power connectors on the bottom side of the connector. Before I applied the tape it was taking me about 2 minutes to see 3 to 4 satellites and between 4 to 7 minutes to lockon to at least 3. The most lockons for me was 6. After the tape was applied I see almost instantly 3 or 4 sats and the lockon time has improved from 1 to 3 minutes and now I can lockon to 6 and 10 satellites. I have tested my 290 in good and bad weather with minimal change in timing. I'm sharing this info because it has helped improved my reception, timing etc... I'm not going to guarantee it may work for everyone and that it depends where and how you use it, If interested look online to find a good price for a roll, should cost under $3.00. Here's an example link: http://www.gotopac.biz/ProductDetail...B1651&CartID=1

I would like to thank Deniska, In7ane, Nieko and all the others who have dedicated their time to create and improve Mapthis.

The link I posted shows the anti static tape sold by the case and maybe most sites will want you to purchase a large quantity. I use this tape at work so for me easy to acquire . If anyone finds a site or store that sells it please post it. Also anti static tape is other known as ESD or cellulose tapes

Thanx for the tip, it's worth the try.

Any chance you post some images of the area where you apply the tape?

I used the printed anti-static tape for demonstration purposes only, clear tape is more difficult to see. The entire metal is covered and I applied two ply to the bottom = @4 mil in thickness.
