Question Hmm That PSone Emulator News

Im sure that many of you who visit other sites in the PSP scene will have no doubt heard or seen the supposed screens of the menu of Sonys Unreleased PSone emulator for the PSP which for those of you who dont know will cost you cash per game and certainly wont be free.

The Price of the games in news articles ive seen points to a $15 dollar but i would say thats a high price or only for the very top of the range PSone games, i would think that a maximum of $10 is much more likely.

As for the emulator itself i reckon they will use a process like Bleemcast did and that is optimize each game for use on the PSP, making full use of the widescreen. How they are going to get around the controls is going to be interesting although its quite conceivable that they could bring out a mini PS2 controller that plugs into the USB port on top of the PSP.

The games if downloadble will use some type of DRM to stop piracy and most likely the emulator will be well hidden away.

Remember that anything you read on sites is pure speculation until Sony divulge details themselves, sure its nice to see screens but if they are indeed fakes then it does rather let you in for a backlash from the members of the PSP scene.

Lets see where the PSP emu from Sony goes. What we really need is a Bleemcast for PSP

    Thumbs up Oh sure

Sony wants to wipe homebrew off the face of the earth,
And now start chargeing for emulation.

Well the homebrew scene made emulation what it is, Emulation has its own aire about it, people dont want to have to pay for emulation,
Its Got its own life and feel to it in the homebrew scene already.
I see corporate emulation as a almost humorus move.

And I await its release with bated breath!

For when it does finely come full term The homebrew scene will have the perfect specimine to disect and study.

I applaud sony for there great contribution to the homebrew scene weather they know it will be or not lol

And yeah I guess a hack job on this sony brand emulator could be concidered warez, But where does the scene draw the line on whats acceptible as warez and whats not?

Isnt even the tiny bits of code riped from Gta and used for the gta exploit build still takeing somthing from a comercial product?

I dont liek warz in in the whole. But when you got lemons, make lemonaid.
And I would rip this emulator apart and hack it, without the slightest moral hesitation.

Sorry man, but that just doesn't make any sense... Why would Sony not care about emulation? By your logic, they should regularly abandon their IP every few years. Emulation is great for corporations becuase it means that their products will live on forever and be potentially profitable for just as long. It goes hand-in-hand with corporate attitudes. We mustn't forget that out of the big three console makers right now, Sony's the only one that has made backwards compatibility a virtual guarantee in it's systems (other than the remarkable exception of Nintendo's GB/GBA/DS line), and that compatibility is accomplished through emulation. You can just about bet that the biggest reason why the PSP didn't natively support PS1 titles at launch was because of the highly unportable (for gaming, anyway) full size CD format.

Thumbs up I can see where your comeing from.

But the point im makeing is,
Who has ever wanted to pay for emulation,

look at all the failed attempts for the corprate community to garner money from emulation,

    *cough, Gametap.

And the revolution with its emulation plan. Sure people accept it and look foward to it, And why? Because it wont be long before somone figures out how to blow the doors clean off the revolutions firmware and make it free to the point of simply downloading the emulation from another site for free.

People just dont want to pay for somthing they can get for free.
Oh I can planely see why they would be interested in emulation.
Its very popular and potentialy could make a lot of money.
But as long as people can get it for free, no one anywhere is going to pay for it.
Not to mention when sony does release this emulator, It wont be long before the hacked version hits the net for free,
And need I to say, That dcemu has a standing about warez as a whole,
    We dont like it here.
But each of us individualy, would seek out this hacked version and play it own our own.

Thats all im getting to. You see,I see your point bro, I really do,
And as much as I respect the corprate scene in the whole, Thay have brought me much comercial joy in videogame form,

But at the same time, The pay to play corprate emulation scen, in all its glory, Is still a torjen horse aimed attack on the homebrew comunity, and people dont see that

*I dont mean to ramble on and on, But lets examine some of the apeal of emulation to begin with.

Part of what makes emulation so good, is that its free to begin with,

Can you see anyone seeking out a multitude of the emulated games they play, if that had to pay for them?

Sure people would still pay for and play there favs,
But in the whole. Emulation wouldnt have nearly the apeal to people it does, if people had to pay for it.

    True

They wont ever be able to stop people messing around with there releases.
I guess sony just saw it coming and thought "we'l release a PSone emu before they do" the homebrew scene would of made it eventually but wouldnt of charged for it.

but say you own a PSone game why do you have to pay to put it on your PSP since you have already bought it will tweaking it playable on your PSP really cuase that much harm to sony?

Thumbs up A count down of my emulation.

lets just say pay to play emulation was widely accepted just for a moment.
If I had to pay even just five dollars a pop for every rom I had
The totaly price I would have to pay would be completly insane.
Even at just five dollars a pop.

However I do take great comfort in the fact that most of the roms I play are either games I own, owned once upon a time. Or couldnt find because they where never released in this country

Yeah that sounds a little far fetched I suppose. But you have to take into concideration, That ive been a collector of videogames ever since before I knew the definition of the word collector.

As far back as I can remember, And I can remember to somwhere around the age of 3. Even then. At that time video games had always been somthing I loved, So my memory just doesnt go back far enough to allow me to say ecactly how long Ive followed this hobby

    Thumbs up lol

Ill never understand why people liked final fantasy 9

To me as a die hard ff fan since the begining,

Final fantasy 9 seems to stand out that the most obviously, rushed quick cash in in the enitre series

Still takeing away the final fantasy name and just looking at it as an rpg.
Its still better then any other non squaresoft rpg of that time

to me... ff9 was a game about a horny little monkey boy.

Id like to see ff8, energiez, a couple of old capcom games (marvel vs capcom I still play often ), some of the wipe outs, and of course the old syphon filter... god i loved that game back in 5th grade... OH OH AND XENO GEARS! EVERYONE NEEDS XENO GEARS!
