you see, the motor might be fine, but from what you have posted, i'm prettys sure the laser has burned out (which is the most common DC break down) try returning it and get another (any thing older than DEC 2000)
I found this by searching...
every disc I put in the machine is not recognized. The browser menu keeps saying Insert Game Disc. When I power up the machine, the browser screen comes up and the memory card icon is highlighted, even though I don't have a VMU attached to the console.
This is the EXACT same thing happening to me....but Im not sure if my DC ever ran homebrew since I got it used....its an Oct. 99 model thats why i want to get it fixed...

when i bought my first second hand DC back in may of '04 i had the same problem. at that time you could buy DC's at EB games... best of luck to you.![]()

Is there a particular burning progam I need to burn discs for DC? I only have Ashampoo Burning Studio right now...will that work?
Thanx for all of the help......![]()
nero, disc juggler, alcohol 120%, but if you use bootdreams it can burn it for you
You only need BootDreams and it's freeware.
Having Alcohol120% won't be wrong, but really, BootDreams is all you need.
Get it from here:

OK...
I exchanged the busted onr for a March 2000 that seems to work fine. I also have Nero & BootDreams..........so how do I create a disc to use on DC?
Im trying to make a cd of "Quake finito" but I dont understand how....
Forget about Nero.
