I'd definatley buy one.....
...I'm not holding my breath on this actually happening though
Hello,
I'm working as a business development manager with a new game controller company and I have a few questions about the Dreamcast:
- Would there be interest in the homebrew community for a motion-based controller like SIXAXIS or Wii?
- Is there any info on how to connect new hardware devices to the Dreamcast (currently our controller is USB) ?
Thanks for your help in advance!

There would be interest, especially since there are already motion-sensitive controls for the Dreamcast (fishing controllers). If it was especially polished and came with some light software (along with open source examples of use) then it could probably sell quite a bit as a premium item.
There has never been a homebrew effort (that I am aware of) to design a new controller or to interface with the controller bus in any way (aside from Rand Linden's BleemPod). There is though a bit of documentation on the characteristics of the interface (for a Dreamcast Controller-> USB adapter) here: http://mc.pp.se/dc/dchid.html
If you have any specific questions, please feel free to ask here or on http://www.dcemulation.org/ (which has a much more active development community).
If anyone is looking to buy, sell, trade games and support a developer directly at the same time, consider joining Goozex. Enjoy!
You can find some info about Dreamcast MapleBUS here(in russian):

I've been thinking about getting another DC controller as I only have one right now. I have a mouse and keyboard, but need more controllers.
Anywho, having a motion control controller would be interesting.
sounds awesome. please continue!
