Yes i have to agree...if one did come out with wi-fi support on b-net...dear lord, i would literally die... it would be hard for me to pull myself off the psp ever again

Unfortunately, you're probably right, no one will probably do anything about it. But if you steal a car and the owner of the car never reports it, does that make it right? Of course that's an extreme example, but ripping sprites from games and using them in other projects without consent is still a violation of the original IP holder's rights, and it's gotta stop. I'm sick of seeing all of these slick looking games and movies that look like an official product, but then when you check it out, you find out it's just something that some hack pieced togeather. You can bet that all of that poor, second-rate material floating around out there prominently featuring their work is not only an insult to the original, but also damaging to the company's reputation.

Imitation is the sincierest form of flattery, but boldly ripping pieces from other work is just stealing. If you're looking to honor an old favorite, do it right and create something new based on it. I don't care if you're not that great at creating sprites, practice makes perfect, and it's far more impressive when you at least try it and achieve something that looks second rate, then it is when you steal someone else's work and end up with something that looks really polished.

Or so the developer said.
It seems entirely possible that a company wouldnt want you useing there game ideas for homebrew.
I can imagine if it where toys. and somone found a way to cheaply make transformer ripoffs and distribute them for free the toy companys wouldnt be pleased about it.

However I see this as a boon for the homebrew comunity, or at the very least a compliment, That we can create somthing so intimadeting to developers that they feel thretened.
It must mean were getting really good at what we do

It would be nice if people would try to make original games, rather than simple clones and copies.

By all means use something like Starcraft as an inspiration, but why not make an RTS based on its principles, but with your own races, themes, and storylines. Much more interesting (IMO) to develop and play, and it's not going to get you into trouble.

ok ive got a QUESTION if someone HAD a HALO mod of iris but DID NOT post it or release it just HAD A COPY could he or she be in trouble.....if they dont sell it they dont post it...just play it for there own $#@!s and giggles but its on your pc.....could they try and cause prob STILL after knowing your not gonna post it!!! i mean this all seems crazy why does bill gates want to run everything .....he already owns everything....lol..but really if a guy went to the library and posted whatever PROJECT they were worried about....THEN HOW WOULD YOU KNOW WHO IT WAS? i mean for any project....say they made a new register here after they got to the library and gave there library alias all the creditz just to get the game out there .....no way to proove anything if you dont sighn up for a pc at the library, go there post this project of whatever then leave and never return....WILL BILL SUE THE LIBRARY for letting someone in to do there SCHOOL WORK, and they posted on dcemu instead........cmon bill really you have plenty of money YOU CAN AFFORD TO MAKE AN ORIGINAL...WE ARENT RICH LET US HAVE OUR FUN TIGHT WADD!!!

-Super Mini Mario (not to forget the insanely increasing mods behind it named after other games)

-Beats of Rage (mods also apply here even though this is really old)

-Work in progress games in Lua (Ninja Gaiden, Fist of the North Star, Naruto, Sonic, etc..)

-Smash Brothers GPSP (and every sprite caracter made for it)

-That GTA car game somebody made a while back

-Don't even get me started about emulation
