modded wii won't read mario kart

everything was going good with my wii after my mod, the backups work, but my mario kart is having issues. when i click single player the game goes black and lags then shows a message "Could not read wii game disk, please refer to Wii game manual" something along those lines. is their a fix for it, or is it just this game?
