Need help please

Howdy
I just bought a PSP for my son off ebay. It has 3.80 official, so I have purchased a pandora battery to downgrade it, just curious tho..
Does firmware save to the PSP or the mem stick?
IE if i downgrade and use a 2 gig stick for a magic mem then put a 16 gig stick in will it sill have the same settings? or firmware?
Or do i need the 16 gig stick to load everything onto so I don't have to re-do anything?

Firmware stored in the NAND & flash in ur PSP so swapping MS wouldnt matter..
