CIOS install

I've tried installing cIOS on my Wii however I seem to have hit a problem. When it comes up with the black screen asking what IOS to use I select one but it either comes up with a message saying the fakesign bug isn't enabled, I then tried selecting different IOS however most did the same and some just froze my console. Am I doing something wrong? I don't really do much in the way of homebrew but I would like to play media on my Wii so I can finally get rid of this xbox I have.

There's no reason to install a cIOS to play videos and the like on your Wii. Its simply not necessary.

Most of the cIOSes have no purpose but to enable piracy (or make it easier/faster/etc) anyway.
