that is ridiculous.
How can that save power?
Backlight is the biggest power drain for an LCD display, and having a black page is wasting that energy because then the backlight is on for no reason.
Do you like the google in black?![]()

I only use a black Google because it matches the theme of my PC (black), for it saving power I don't really care but I know that already when in 2007 Google had a black page and I was curious as to where it went the next day and why that very day it was for some reason black... As said by Accordion "Backlight is the biggest power drain for an LCD display", I can add that the brightness setting being lowered on an LCD monitor helps somewhat.
Greasemonkey has a black Google script, much better than going through an untrusted source.
Yeah, I remember that day that Google "turned the lights out". I think I have a screenshot of it around somewhere. :P
Anyway, it really doesn't matter. I don't care about saving 2 cents by using a different color version of the same search engine. :P
Technically it's a different engine (a clone), because the address isn't www.google.com/www.google.co.uk or whatnot. Instead it's bpled.com which kinda sucks, I would rather use this with the real Google.![]()
