Default Downgradable only to what it was manufactured with?

I was reading another post by another user here...
    http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/sho...t=23852&page=4
and I already PMed the user with my question, but I decided to bring it here for open discussion.
One post in that link above states that "the virgin 2.5/2.6/etc.. psps have modified hardware preventing them from booting older firmwares and this has been confirmed. newer models are incapable of booting anything below what they were manufactured with. (thank sony) so if an exploit is found there will be ALOT of bricked psp's." If that is true, does that mean that my PSP, which was manufactured with a firmware of v2.01 (and was later upgraded to v2.6, where it is at now) is ever downgraded with a possible future downgrader, will not be able to go back to v1.5? Or does that apply only to PSPs that were manufactured with v2.5 and above?
