My experience has been that US dreamcasts made in 2000 work fine. I had read somewhere that it was only Japanese units made is 2000 that don't read CDRs and that US and PAL consoles all work, but I'm not 100% sure about it.
Well, I was looking at a Dreamcast at Amazon, and I wanted to make sure it was CD-R compatible. After contacting the seller, this is the information on the bottom of the system
Model HKT-3020
Made in Mar 2000
(1) NTSC U
I know it was made in 2000, but is this early enough to run CD-R's? Thank you GREATLY for your help.

Ya, 0 and 1 should be fine. 2's are 50/50 in my experience.
