There is that, but it fails on the means of not being compatible with the SEGA Saturn (or Dreamcast)... That's the only downside really, but for the PlayStation 2 there are games such as Time Crisis 2.

Ever consider a CRT HDTV? I hear they display SD content much better than LCDs and their black levels are superior as well.

I suppose the disadvantages of one would be size and the fact that they can only do up to 1080i.

Why would you? Plasma TV's use same basic tech as CRT's with the exception of how the phosphor is lit up.

Because you can find a high-quality CRT HDTV for a cheaper price than a $#@!ty Wal-Mart Plasma. :P
