all i want to know is where did you see a post saying "i'd never buy gta" and i can tell you exactly why they said that

-they have a 1.5 so theres no need to buy gta because they already enjoy full homebrew capabiltys

-they have a 2.0 and can use the tiff expliot so theres no need to buy gta to run homebrew and they can downgrade to 1.5 when ever they like

-they just plain out dont like the game and dont want to buy it not everyone has to buy gta of course you need it to run homebrew on higher firwares

-they have 2.7+ and so theres no need to get gta because all hopes of running homebrew are lost

acutally your claims dont even make sence a person with a higher fireware will actually be more influenced to buy gta and run homebrew so your claim doesnt make any sence

and as of now there are only a handfull of good psp commercail games out and everyone is entitled to there opinion if they dont want to buy gta so be it we are not making the chose for them

The arguement that Carpy is trying to set is why not upgrade and use GTA to get homebrew and play PSP games ? His original counter arguement to the 'just play homebrew' line was why not get a handheld that was designed for it aka GP2X.

Side note: I am aware that there are ways to play UMD discs that require higher firmwares on a 1.5 machine.

The gp2x ranges for about 160 usd aused psp for 150 do the math why not have both in psp format
at the moment psp has more homebrew support

After taking a good read of the forums here, and surveying everything that is available for homebrew on the PSP I just happily bought, I have to ask the following question:

Why in hell is everyone (or at least the most vocally annoying people here) so angrily dead set against NOT buying GTA in order to load up homebrews and emulators? I mean, I understand why people who downgrade or refuse to upgrade their PSP's firmware choose to do so...but seriously.

Did you all buy your PSP's so you could ONLY run homebrews and Emulators and you never plan to buy any real PSP games?

GTA is a good game. Great? maybe not, but still fun. But it also allows you to run a hack that runs nearly all the available homebrews, and with the latest 2.6 Kernal exploit undoubtedly ALL of them will run perfectly soon. And if you don't get one NOW, or get a used one soon, you WON'T be able to do it anymore, since they've supposedly patched it.

Are you all just too cheap to actually buy GTA, or what? I mean seriously, you can get it used for like $25. It can't be about the money.

And if you don't want to use GTA to load up Homebrews, why not get a GP? The GP is far better and easier for running this stuff and there's much more available.

Oh right, I forgot. A GP won't run all those PSP ISOs most of you swear you never run and aren't allowed to talk about.

I would like to say a huge thanks to all the coders and crackers who help the rest of us who bought a PSP for the games to be able to play some "extra" stuff like homebrews and EMU's.
