    Default Dreamcast SCART

First off, hi. This is my first time at this Forum so I hope I'm posting in the correct Forum asking for you guys words of wisdom.

Basically I'm looking to start playing on Shenmue again (which has to be my favourite game of all time. But enough about that ) I'm looking to buy a Dreamcast over eBay or somewhere like there so that I can get back into the games but unfortunaely don't expect my RF Aerial to work correctly.

So I heard about a Dreamcast SCART cable which should allow the Console to work correctly on my HD Ready LCD TV, however have done some research into this and a lot of people on the Net are seeming to have some problems with this method. Another thing I heard about was a "VGA Box" however both of the LCD TV's in my house don't support VGA.

I was simply wondering whether there are any ways around this, the only games I will be really playing are Shenmue 1 and Shenmue 2 so if they are fine through Scart then I'll be more than happy but any information on these problems is greatly appreciated.

Again, I hope I posted this in the correct Forum and appologies if I didn't.

    Good day

I would personally advise a composite AV cable, I have a SCART lead that has a SCART connection and the option to use the AV connection, I always use the AV because the image is better.

IS the Composite AV cable the Blue, Red and Green or the Red, White and Yellow connectors, for that don't you need a whole load of Converters to allow that to use.

But I must admit if I had the choice of the AV or SCART I would almost always choose AV. I also have an RF Aerial connection on my TV but don't know if that would work. Hope so but would prefer something else.

    Thanks,
    - Jamie.

The composite AV is the red, white and yellow connectors... It's just one cable, no converters needed, unless you connect it to the SCART connection, which almost every console that comes with an AV cable provides the connector (pictured below).

Myself having the choice of the RF, SCART and AV. The RF is the option you would want to avoid, because however great the television the quality isn't the best because it tunes to the old TV type with the poor quality and the screen interference.

Here's the type of cable I use for my Dreamcast, although the one pictured is for the PlayStation.
