I've poked around on my downgraded 2.5 (UK) - looks like it's an IC6001 too:

(Edit: And for what it's worth, I upgraded to 2.6 before running the downgrader.)

To confirm it is 100% possible to upgrade to 2.6 then downgrade to 1.5. I did this without seeing the markings on the motherboard, it was blank. (Originally 2.01)

    I bricked a IC6001 today upgraded from 2.01 - 2.60
but i think it was the fake memory stick as I have had success on other IC6001 boards

I just saw this thread, and honestly how the heck are you supposed to see the number? When I open the umd drive it's right under the silver metal 'bottom'where you slip the umd in. Some people can see the number so clear..-sigh- do I have to open the bugger up? I need your guidance people ...help me. Cheers

ps Well with my now strained eyesight and smart deduction. (I deduced that a 3 wouldn't look like a 1 due to it's curved nature) i'm pretty sure it's a IC6001, does that mean my 'ugly duckling' 2.71 was set in the factory or are some 2.71's IC6001?
