Sony's Kaz Hirai took to the stage at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas earlier today, and while up there revealed some impressive sales numbers for the PlayStation 3 over the holiday season.
According to Sony's internal numbers, over the five week period running from the end of November to the new year, 3.8 million PlayStation 3 consoles were sold worldwide (1.7 million of them in the US), a number the company says is a 76% boost over the 2008 holiday period's figures.
Amazing what a more manageable price and great games can do for a console's fortunes.
