Post The first PS2 Linux Live DVD

    Hello,

for a long time I was working at a project which I called kernelloader. The target of the project is to make a boot loader for Linux on the PS2. Now I was able to create a Linux Live DVD for the PS2. This is the first one ever created for the PS2 and you don't need a modchip. I think it is time to inform more people about the project. This version is much easier to install than previous attempts to create a Linux distribution, because you only need to burn a DVD and start kloader.elf. So everybody who know how to run hombrew software should be able to use it. Only if you want sound, you need to configure something, which is explained in the README.TXT on the DVD.

Note: USB is not stable on the slim PSTwo, if you want to use it. Don't try to write on USB memory devices.

EDIT: There are some problems with video detection. The configured XMODE is not used. PAL is always selected.
EDIT2: Version 2 fixed the problems with DTV, NTSC and VGA.

The web page for this project is:
    http://kernelloader.sourceforge.net/linux.html

The ISO image can be downloaded here:

No, this is not compatible with PSP in any way. For Linux on PSP, you need:
    1. Old fat PSP with firmware 1.5 (because of kernel mode)
    2. µLinux (because the CPUs do not have a MMU).

As far as I know the µLinux for PSP is not finished. You need also the fat PSP because of the infrared keyboard support.
Even I can't run µLinux on my PSP, because I have only a slim model.

Keep up the good work! This is awesome!
