A regular old DC generally runs maybe $50. It's the "extras" that cost and arm and a leg. The BBA can run $150. A serial cable normally runs $75 to $100. Because of that, I used lots of CDRs for my homebrew developing before I finally found a BBA.
Hi everyone,
I used to have a dreamcast many years ago...one of my favourite consoles...it truly felt next gen and I miss it big time.
What is a fair price to pay for a dreamcast these days in good condition??

Here in northern Europe, I got mine for about 80 USD, which was considered a good price for a used unit. Depending on where you live prices tend to differ pretty heavily.
I paid £14 for my 2nd DC. With Controller, Fishing rod and memory card. (But that was a very very good price) Although I'd recommend going to a boot sale they are very cheap. i'd expect around £10-20 at a boot sale (without games)
In 2006 I paid somewhere between £12-15 with two controllers, a few games and a VMU. Then in 2009 I paid £5 for just the console and a VMU.
The Dreamcast has an awesome reputation for being the last console by SEGA, though many people buy and sell them many times too cheaply.
I'm on my fourth Dreamcast right now, and as far as I remember:
- Dreamcast #1 (purchased in 2002, $59.99 used)
- Dreamcast #2 (purchased in 2004, $39.99 used)
- Dreamcast #3 (purchased in 2008, $10 used)
- Sega Sports Dreamcast (purchased in 2010, $39.99 used)
I'd spend up to $30 or so for a Dreamcast nowadays. I only spent $40 on the Sega Sports Dreamcast because it came with two controllers and a VMU.
Good luck hunting! It seems that there are no Dreamcasts in my area anymore (got the last one at a convention) and that you're left with the internet as your only option.
