    Default Identifying what firmware was loaded on PSP when purchased.

    Hi,

    My friend has a PSP that he bought earlier this summer. He doesn't know if he upgraded the firmware ever, so we don't know what firmware came pre-loaded on the PSP when it was purchased.

    Is there any way to tell what firmware was originally on the PSP when it was purchased? Maybe the barcode can tell us?

    Thanks in advance for the help.

    if he still has the box, you can look at the letters at the side of the box..

    To help buyers be aware of what version they are getting, there is a letter near the bar code on the PSP merchandise box. Each letter corresponds to which version it represents. For the value pack in the U.S.:

    * A is 1.5.
    * B is 1.51.
    * C, D, and E are 1.52.
    * F is 2.00.
    * G is 2.01.
    * H is 2.5.

    I'm assuming that I is for 2.6

    Also does anyone know if the stamp on the motherboard, (i.e; IC1003), have anything to do with the original fw?

    That will tell you your current firmware, not the factory firmware.
