xbox 360 Galaga shoots up Arcade Wednesdays

It's retro shoot-'em-up action all the way as MS unleash Galaga on Arcade Wednesday

Well, a couple of weeks ago Microsoft promised a raft of fresh Arcade classics appearing on its Live service every Wednesday and - lo and behold - today is Galaga day, when the ancient (well 1981) arcade shoot 'em-up makes its debut on Xbox Live Arcade.

Still nostalgia ain't what it used to be it seems, with our esteemed colleagues over at OXM.co.uk, taking a quick shufti at the game, deeming it very much a dog that has had its day when compared to modern wonders like Geometry Wars.

Still, if you absolutely can't live without a spot of Galaga to light up your Wednesday, or just want to bathe in a warm comforting glow of simplistic shoot-'em-up action, then Galaga will set you back a very reasonable sounding 400 Microsoft points.

Love Galaga, can only hope it uses more of the screen than Frogger does.

Nope exactly the same, you can zoom in a bit but its pretty much the original Galaga. Now if this had been the 194X collection or similar, I would have been excited....

Or the fantastic shooter... TimePilot (which does look to have been given a nice make-over too - and hopefully a good dose of whole-screen action as well)
