    Default Firmware 2.8 dumped

forgive me if this is old news:

from *cough* psp-hacks. (<--- MODS EDIT)

GmDude66 from pspupdates has managed to fully decrypt firmware 2.80. Below is a changelog of files that were added/changed. And yes, 2.80 uses the same encryption key as 2.70 did.

    f:\dh\250\flash0\kd\resource\
    me_blimg.img

    f:\dh\280\flash0\vsh\module\
    dd_helper_utility.prx

    f:\dh\280\flash0\vsh\resource\
    lftv_rmc_univer3in1.rco
    lftv_rmc_univer3in1_jp.rco
    lftv_rmc_univerpanel.rco
    lftv_rmc_univerpanel_jp.rco
    lftv_rmc_univertuner.rco
    lftv_rmc_univertuner_jp.rco
    netfront.skn changed to netfront.rc

    f:\dh\280\ipl and f:\dh\271\iplcomparrison
    psp_ipl.bin changed to psp_nandipl.bin
    psp_ipl.bin_p1 changed to psp_nandipl.bin_p1
    psp_ipl.bin_p2_040F0000 changed to psp_nandipl.bin_p2_040F0000
    psp_ipl.bin_p3 changed to psp_nandipl.bin_p3

Please note 2.80 has yet to be emulated with DevHook - this is just the first step - a decrypted copy of ‘reboot.bin’ is still required.

Attached is a revised version of BOOSTER’s DevHook Firmware installer:

copy the contents of this zip archive to “ms0:/PSP/GAME”
extract “DATA.PSAR” from the 2.80 EBOOT update [using PBP Unpacker] and copy it to the root of your memory stick (ms0:/)
    run this app.
    The result: a 2.80 dump in “ms0:/dh/280″

i have not attached the zip file but saw it for download at *cough* psp hacks ( <--- mods edit plz )

So what can you do with this? Any chance of some sort of homebrew for 2.7+

This is for the 1.5ers so eventually we can emulate 2.8 to play any new games that require it.

this is also old news from *cough*planetpsp (ive cut it down a bit myself though)
psp-hacks was missinformed, the firmware 2.80 was dumped BUT IT WAS NOT DECRIPTED, so it cannot be use for devhook untill someone manages to find a way to decript it

red sox32: ...the whole dumping and decripting firmwares is a lot easier than finding a tiny exploit that is in the firmware/game then getting kernal access from it beforefinally making a eboot cappable of degrading the psp
