If you insist on playing gba on a slot 1 your only option right now the iplayer which has extra processing power to emulate the gba and has a emulator released for it. But if you get an acecard the best setup would be an EZ Flash 3in1 lite.
looking to get a ds lite, but don't know anything about ds hacking. can a flash card like acekard play both gba and ds roms?

The easiest way to play GBA games on the DS Lite is to buy an eLink Lite.
It's a GBA Rom Cart with a direct mini-USB port in the cart, and it plays just about any GBA rom without any flaws, it also has the ability to play NES Roms, GB Roms, GBC Roms, and Text Files.
It fits perfectly into the GBA slot on the DS Lite
I have one myself, as well as the regular eLink for the GBA, which works with the DS.
Also it plays like it's a regular GBA cart
