Rev Wii awarded 'most valuable gaming brand'

The Nintendo Wii has been named the most valuable gaming brand in a huge survey of companies looked upon favourably by the general public.

The latest Brandz Top 100 report compiled by Millward Brown has revealed the not-so-surprising statistic while also claiming that the games industry has evolved from "toys for boys" to genuine entertainment centres for the entire family.

Nintendo ranked the 32nd most valuable global brand while the Wii and DS were named the first and second-highest consoles; while the Xbox 360 came third on the console-specific rankings, Microsoft came fourth place overall on the global report.

Sony was much lower with 94th place overall, though the PlayStation 3, PSP and PlayStation 2 were able to claim fourth, fifth and sixth spots on the games brand list.

Recently, the PS3 was named as the target of a lawsuit over the false advertising surrounding the ability to install a different operating system, only for the company to revoke this right with update 3.21.

Not so much an award as it is telling it what it already knew.

Its like giving a green bottle the green bottle award.

    aaanyways....
