General games Germany retreats from violent games ban

A petition with 73,000 signatures has convinced the German government not to ban violent videogames after all.

Dr. Herman Kues announced there would be no changes to the criminal code after hearing the petition, reports GamePolitics.

Instead, the German government will push for more public education about the existing PEGI rating system.

EA's Jens Uwe beamed a big smile to GamesIndustry.biz and said: "The German decision is a very welcome step as we encourage policy makers to better understand the reality of today's videogame market and give games the same respect as books, films or music."

    What's violent isn't video games, it's minorities.
