I'd have to say Link from Zelda seeing as how the original Zelda game on the NES is probably the one game I spent most of my time on as a kid. I remember looking for every secret bush to burn or wall to bomb a hole through.

I must say that I still haven't ever attempted the "Master Quest" of the game but think I will give it a go one day soon on my PSP via emulator.

Can't explain it but i always liked Dizzy more than Mario, Sonic etc.

Yeah Dizzy for me too. No one makes games like those anymore, and I just can't work out why. Remakes would be perfect for PSN/XBLA.
