Newer Games

I have a quick question. I've noticed some of the newer games require newer firmware to run, is this true for all newer games?
I have a 2.6 TA-082 mobo, and I dont want to upgrade.
I'm in the military so I only have until october to get all my crap I need for a long detatchment without the internet. There are a couple games im interested in to pass the time by, but im not sure if they will need newer firmware

Pretty much anything that has good replay value.
I use homebrew through eLoader, so that gives me some options already.

most homebrew works with eloader. you can play higher firmware games with the train umd loader.
