    NDS InfrareDS

Mark has announced his project for the DS called InfrareDS, heres the info:

It's all in the name, with InfrareDS you can add an IrDA (Infrared) function to your Nintendo DS in just a few minutes!

    Features
-Direct compatible to all firmware versions of the Nintendo DS (Nintendo DS Lite has not yet been tested)
-High speed data transmission to any other IrDA device (like PDA's, mobile-phones)
-Send pictures, sounds etc from Nintendo DS to PDA/Mobile Phone and backwards!

    Default Remotes

If this works, I expect to see a universal remote program with a customizable GUI

could this be used to transfer files between DS's? like if you have a homebrew game on one DS with an M3 and want to send it to another DS w/M3? but with IR that would probably take ages....
what's the Data transfer rate on this?

It would probably better to establish ad-hoc wi-fi connections between DS systems than try to use infrared.
    1) DS Wi-fi is pretty well documented now
    2) Speeds are faster
    3) Doesn't require line-of-sight and close range like IR does
