[QUOTE=**1_Man_Matrix**]Why isn't it possible to put another thumbstick on a redesign?
The Playstation 3 will play PS1 games, yet the controller has a bunch of new features, The PS1 games simply do not know how to utilise them... So they don't.

he was saying they wouldnt do that.. then old psps wouldnt be able to play new psp games using 2 analog sticks

Yer dude, thats why I said there'd be alot of wasted buttons, cause they'd have to keep PSP1 owners in mind, therefore they couldn't give the face buttons functions ingame, incase the PSP1 needed those buttons for say, looking around, which is what the second analog nub would be for.

It's hard enough mapping keys for the PSP, without having to worry about a PSP1 AND PSP2 set of controls. How about just not doing a redsign, and having a completely new PSP2. Remember, games aren't supposed to be backwards compatible, the consoles themselves are.

    PSP2 Games - PSP1 Console = No

    PSP1 Games - PSP2 Console = Yay!

Ofcourse, then it won't really be a redesign.

hmm if we' would still have to map the face buttons with (orig) psp owners in mind.. then that would make the 2nd analog stick useless

but talking about it is useless.. because it wont happen hahaha

A new PSP would be sweet and I have a little brother that has a birthday around that time too. Built in camera, 8 gig. This is what I was hoping that the psp would have when it came out.

I find it interesting that Sony keeps denying these rumors, yet they crop everywhere. I know gaming magazines aren't too thorough in their research, but I'd think that PSM would have an ounce of truth when it comes to Playstation matters.

Lets see if Hirai(? whatever his name is; the one who squashed PSP2 rumors like two weeks ago) has anything to say about this. I am beginning to wonder if Sony is trying to hide this because they don't want the public backlash from the idea of PSP1 consoles being unable to play PSP2 games without alot of fuss from the end user.

As Matrix pointed out about using the face buttons, what about games that use two analogs and the face buttons? Or worse, two analogs, the face buttons and directional pad?

Given Sony's complete and utter denying of this whenever it comes up and the amount of times, scope and the magazines that have posted it, it seems to me that Sony is really trying to hide something...

It wouldn't surprise me if Sony forced people to buy PSP2s to gain PS3 connectivity (since this article mentions that, once again, like the ones previous. Unless thats a device for making the article seem 'legit'...)

Sony won't pack in 8gig of memory because they can make you buy 8gigs worth of proprietary memory sticks instead. Basic economics.

And when they say thumbsticks, they better be COMPLETELY redesigned becuase, to put it kindly, the original PSP thumbstick sucks.
    i agree
