there is no legal way to make gameboots, the iR Shell gameboots were made with Sony's leaked tools thus they are illegal and also one reason why the iR Shell gameboots were not included in the 3.0 download (other reason was to save space)
Mr. Shizzy: I'd recommend looking thru the psp forums at ps2-dev.... or just ask ahman or stonecut how to make them

Is it possible to remove the XMB wavy lines on firmware 2.80? (Without setting an image as a wallpaper.)
No i think the only way to remove it is flashing and since there i no flashing options for 2.80.
Basically no you can't

Splodger, you CAN flash on 2.80. Checkout DeviantPSP.com. They created Deviant Flash for 2.80. Also, PSP Filer can be used to flash things Deviant Flash can't.
I have saved a 'system_plugin_bg.rco' file (one with XMB lines disabled) to my PC. I have been wondering if it would work on 2.80 or just brick the PSP.
try it out then

I'm not gonna flash the edited bg file until someone else does it (and gets good results). I don't want to brick my PSP. =P
But you would rather someone else get a brick

Well no, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has tried it. (And would you be able to test this theory in DevHook? Then someone else can test it without risking a brick.)
