That's the reason 1.5 can run DevHook; this way we get 1.5's freedom and 2.71's new features.
I can understand people who don't want to try the downgrader it's still risky if you mess up.

If i had 2.71.. rather than my good ol' 1.5 , I'd probably use an eloader rather than downgrading as it's far safer.. I'd hate to have a very expensive brick cluttery my room. I had one once when I cracked the screen

I would downgrade. But the thing that I would like to know, does is still need gta:lcs to downgrade it?

I would downgrade but if you were scared the new eloader will almost be the same as having a 1.5.

if someone made another easydowngrader like for the one for 2.60, i would downgrade, but until then I would use the eloader

well i think im going with eloader since if i brick my psp... well lets just say money is not on my side. with eloader i wont be risking bricking my psp and i can wait for compatibility with the a 2.71 eloader.

I would definitly downgrade if i had 2.71 firmware, because you can easily load either firmware's with harleyg's custom firmware & devhook.
The risk of bricking the psp is off-putting but its worth it if you're successful (Just make sure you follow all instructions and you should be fine).
